Dorothy Marie Boatwright of East Syracuse, went home to her eternal rest in Jesus Christ our Lord at her home following a long illness. Born in Opelousas, LA, she grew up on a horse farm and loved riding her Pinto horse. She graduated from Holy Ghost High School in Opelousas. She played basketball on the all girls High School Championship team as starting point guard. She was employed as a registered nurse in Denver, CO and was a stay-at-home mom following her marriage to Lloyd Charles Boatwright in the 50s. She was an active communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by a son, Brandy I. Lewis. Surviving are two sons, Ronald and Larry Lewis; four daughters, Gisella, Pamela, Evelyn and Rochelle Lewis; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters and a host of relatives. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon with services to follow immediately at noon on Wednesday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
