Jesse Scott, 81, of the Riverton Rose Trail community in Cherokee, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at his residence.

He was a member of Asphalt Rock Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was loving father and grandfather and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Asphalt Rock Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before service time. Brother Perry Murphy and Brother Andy Elliott will officiate. Burial will be in Asphalt Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today, Nov. 1, 2007, at Cutshall Funeral Home, Iuka, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lessie Scott; a daughter, Judy LeFan; a brother, Marshall Scott; and three sisters, Mildred Scott, Beatrice Adams and Gail McVay.

He is survived by his wife, Mazell Scott, of Cherokee, Ala.; two sons, Ronnie Scott, of Iuka, Miss., and Ricky Scott (Sue), of Cherokee Ala.; two daughters, Carolyn McVay (Billy), and Diane Ham (James), both of Cherokee Ala.; two brothers, Brother R.C. Scott Sr., Cherokee Ala., and Bobby Gene Scott (Virginia), of Phil Campbell Ala.; one sister, Bernice Clark (Tom), of Grenada, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Cutshall Funeral Home, of Iuka, Miss., is directing.
