William Terry Halsey died 43 years before his wife Verdia Elizabeth Halsey. Apparently when he died Elizabeth's name and birth date was carved in stone next to his (Verdia Elizabeth Halsey). Then when she died many years later she was buried next to their son, John M Halsey, in Potato Creek Cemetery where her memorial can be seen (Verdia Elizabeth Halsey).

New River Notes says that his stone is broken & that he is the son of William Cecil Halsey.
