Starting in December of 1926, he was in and out of the Home for Disabled Soldiers in Milwaukee for at least a decade with chronic medical complaints.
He died at the Antlers Hotel at 2nd and Wisconsin streets, which by the time of Williams' death had become a flop-house for the indigent.
