The Current Local, Van Buren, Missouri, May 26, 2011: James Earl McClanahan, son of Ella Meda (Ferguson) McClanahan-Alexander and the late Ralph McClanahan, was born Aug. 30, 1960, in Corning, Ark., and departed this life on May 21, 2011, in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He had attained the age of fifty-years, eight months and 22 days. Mr. McClanahan had resided in Van Buren, Mo., for the past three years and was formerly of Ellsinore, Mo. He was a welder for the Kent Products Company and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. On Apr. 15, 2008, he was united in marriage to Beloveia Stovall. She survives of Van Buren. He is also survived by his mother, Meda Alexander of Ellington; two sons, Bobby Compton and wife, Miranda of Sayre, Okla., and Derek McClanahan of Oregon City, Ore.; three daughters, Tasha McClanahan of Oregon City, and Ashley and Mindy McClanahan both of Festus; four grandchildren; three brothers, Gary McClanahan of Ellington, Danny McClanahan of Corridon, and Bill McClanahan of Success; three sisters, Janet Dixon and husband, Roger of Poplar Bluff, Janie Evans and husband, Everett of Reynolds, and Tracy Mowery and husband Ray of Salem; and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Mo. The funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Harold Condray officiating. Musical selection is "Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill. Burial will be in Gresham Cemetery northeast of Van Buren.
