Joseph C. Brost, 76, of 12035 Merken Rd., Kiel (School Hill) died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Feb. 24, 2001, shortly after being admitted at the Calumet Memorial Medical Center Chilton of heart failure.
He was born on July 4, 1924, in School Hill, son of the late John and Ottilla Fessler Brost.
He attended school in School Hill.
On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Jane Anhalt at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill.
He was co-owner with his brother Norman of Brost Food Market in School Hill for 48 years, retiring in 1966. During his retirement he drove school bus for the Kiel School District for approximately eight years. Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
After training, he was posted in England and as a tech sergeant, he flew 30 missions over Germany as a radio operator on a B-17. For his service he received an Air medal with four oak leaf clusters and European and American campaign ribbons. He was extremely proud and humble to have served his country.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill, St. Nazianz American Legion Post 477 Wagner-Sukowaty and Eberle
(chapter member). He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and his two dogs, Buddy and Frosty.(Survivors omitted for privacy)
He was precede in death by one son, John Brost, and one sister, Mabel Miller.
Funeral mass will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill with Rev. Gregory Coulthard and Deacon James Steffen officiating.
Burial will be Wednesday morning in the parish cemetery.
