Lucille Maurer, 63, Town of Schleswig, died Friday afternoon, January 3, at St.
Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan, where she had been a patient for the past two
weeks. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
School Hill, preceded by brief family rites from the Meiselwitz Funeral Home
of Kiel at 10:30 am. Rev. Reginald Shrimps will officiate with burial to follow
in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Maurer, nee Lucille Vander Weyst was born October 4, 1922 at Little Chute,
daughter of the late William and Dinah Van Roy Vander Weyst. She attended school
at Little Chute. She married LaVerne Maurer on June 23, 1951 at Bethlehem United
Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. After their marriage the couple farmed in
the Town of Schleswig. Mrs. Maurer was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
School Hill, Christian Mothers Society and a member of Star Gazers Camping Club
of Wisconsin.
Survivors include her husband, LaVerne; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Diane) Schmitt
of Manitowoc and Mrs. John (Kathleen) Slabe of Plymouth; seven grandchildren;
four great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph VanderWeyst of Little Chute and two
sisters, Mrs. Nellie Maurer of Kiel and Mrs. Frances Kons of Little Chute. She
was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, after 4 pm Monday. A wake
service will be held at 8 pm Monday evening.
