Donald F. Olig, 26, Manitowoc County World War II veteran, died of Hodgkin's disease Thursday morning at Veteran's Hospital, Wood, Wis.
Funeral services with military rites by the St. Nazianz American Legion post will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church of School Hill. The Rev. Ambrose Knitter will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Olig of Rt. 1, Kiel, was born Dec. 20, 1926, at Sheboygan Falls and moved when 2 with his parents to the present Manitowoc County farm. He married the former (private) of Sheboygan Oct. 25, 1952. He enlisted in the Merchant Marine in 1944 and served 18 months in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In 1949 he enlisted in the Air Force and served until 18 months ago when illness forced intermittent hospitalization.
Survivors include his wife and parents and four brothers (private). A sister, Dorothy, died in 1946.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening where the rosary will be recited by the Holy Name Society at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
