EFFINGHAM - Agnes H. Rafaelson Tuley, 85, of Effingham, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Lexington Park Nursing Center in Topeka. She was born July 5, 1919, at Horton, the daughter of Mathias J. and Anna C. Tollefson Rafaelson. She graduated from Willis High School in 1937. After graduation, she lived in the Horton area, working in the Fashion Department at Ward's in Horton. She married John Arthur "Art" Tuley on March 22, 1942. They farmed near the Arrington and Huron communities before moving to Effingham in 1957. Agnes was a member of the Maple Grove Club and the Ladies Aid of the Effingham Christian Church. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Sharkey, Bernice Shoaf, and Helen Coffman; and one granddaughter, Christy Tuley. Agnes is survived by her husband, Art; and her children, Sara Tuley Piland and husband, Lowell, Bennett, Colo., Dean Tuley and wife, Peggy, Holton, and Janet Tuley Snyder and husband, Craig, Topeka; six grandchildren, Kristen P iland Kellogg, and Kimberly Piland, both of Denver, Taige Tuley Gilliland, Indianapolis, Taren Tuley, Holton, Corey Snyder, Atlanta and Nathan Snyder, Topeka. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Union Church of Effingham. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham. Mrs. Tuley will lie in state Wednesday and Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, and one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.
