Sister Elise Winkler, age 92, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Monday, November 27, 1995, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 1995, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem. with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Helen Winkler was born October 14, 1903, in Lindsay, Neb., daughter of the late Louis and Mary Galligan Winkler. She entered the convent in 1924. Sister Elise earned a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Master of Music Degree from Chicago Conservatory, Chicago, Ill. She served as a teacher of music at St. John, Antigo, Sacred Heart, Maniowoc, Holy Family Conservatory, Manitowoc, Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, Wis.; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich.; St. Mary, Delaware; St. Nicholas, Zenesville, Ohio; Guardian Angels, West Point, Neb. After retiring from active ministry in 1986, she had been residing at Holy Family Convent.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Ethel Tibbels, Oakland, Neb., Luigene and Roy Broberg, Dodge City, Kan., Elizabeth Winkler, Omaha, Neb.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 1995, at Holy Family Convent. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
