Charity, died on Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2008, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
The former Helen Yobst was born on Sept. 20, 1916, in Petoskey, Mich., daughter
of the late John and Barbara (Basil) Yobst. She entered the convent in 1933,
and professed her vows in 1936. Sister Leola earned a Bachelor of Science degree
from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Leola served as a homemaker at St.
Mary, Reedsville; St. Anthony, Neopit; SS. Peter & Paul, Kiel; St. Anne, Escanaba,
Mich.; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich.; Queen of Angels Mission, San Miguel,
Sacred Heart, Covered Wells, and Immaculate Conception, all of Yuma, Ariz.; Girls'
Prefect at Guardian Angels, Oneida; and an elementary teacher at St. Philip,
Green Bay; Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay; St. Andrew, Manitowoc; St. William,
Waukesha; St. John Indian Mission, Komatke, Ariz.; St. Anthony, Topawa, Ariz.;
St. Francis, Yuma, Ariz.; San Xavier, Tucson, Ariz.; San Jose Mission, Pisinemo,
Ariz., St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii and St. John Vianney, Kailua, Hawaii. She also
performed various tasks at St. Francis Xavier, Petosky, Mich., and Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2002, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center
at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include: the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, and a sister,
Sister Francella Yobst, OSF, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Holy
Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc,
from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. A prayer service will be held at 7
p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
