Ralph W. Springer,78, 433 N. Zane Hwy., Martins Ferry, died Friday at home. He was born Jan. 7, 1896, in Martins Ferry, son of Thomas and Sally Louisa Fowler Springer.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Martins Ferry; served in World War I and was a member of VFW. He was a former school board member and service director in Martins Ferry, and a retired custodian at Elm School.
His wife, Doris Vennum Springer, died in December 1972, and a daughter Jo Ann Klarr, Oct. 23, 1974.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Floyd W. (Mary Lou) Powell, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and six grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Heslop Funeral Home, Martins Ferry, after 7 this evening, where services will be Monday at 11 a.m. with his son-in-law, The Rev. Floyd W. Powell of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Veterans of Foreign services will be Sunday at 8 p.m.
