Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Capers Owens, wife of Mayor L. B. Owens of Columbia, who died at her residence, 1319 Laurel Street, 2:30 o'clock Monday morning, will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at her residence. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Lewis N. Taylor, rector of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Although Mrs. Owens had been in ill health for some time her death came unexpectedly.
Mrs. Owens was born in Charleston, the daughter of Gen. Frank W. and Mrs. Hannah P. Capers. She had been living in Columbia for many years and during this time she had won a great many friends, who with her relatives mourn her death. Mrs. Owens was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Church.
Surviving is her husband, Dr. L. B. Owens, mayor of Columbia, one sister, Mrs. E. S. Capers of Augusta, Ga., one daughter, Louise and one son, Dr. F. C. Owens, both of Columbia.
Active pallbearers selected for the funeral services are, Frank W. Capers of Augusta, and John F. Satterlee, Ellison Capers, Ehrlich Thomson, J. Quitman Marshall and Robert Moorman Jr., all of Columbia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. W. R. Barron, Dr. O. B. Mayer, G. Duncan Bellinger, J. Edwin Belser, W. E. McNulty, E. T. Cato, A. Fletcher, S. C. McMaster, Dr. C. L. Kibler, Dr. W. S. Lindsay, Dr. William Lester, Dr. Clarence E. Owens, Dr. C. C. Stanley, E. August Hoefer, W. P. Eleazer, Dr. S. F. Killingsworth, Dr. LeGrande Guerry, Dr. George Bunch, Dr. R. T. Jennings, Dr. N. D. Heyward and E. J. DaCosta all of Columbia.
