"Frank Firth, Jr, 86, of 136 Mechanic St, Spartansburg, died Saturday, Sept 17, 1994, in Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Mr Firth was born Feb 7, 1908, in West Collins (sic) [West Caln] Township, Chester County, a son of the late E Frank and Ida Harrington Firth Sr. He moved to the Spartansburg area as a young boy, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Spartansburg High School in 1926. He then operated the family dairy farm for many years before owning and operating Firth's Mobile Station in Riceville Corners. He retired in 1970 after 25 years of ownership. He was a member and past master of the former Spartan Masonic Lodge in Spartansburg. He enjoyed gardening. Besides his parents, five sisters, Florence Hampe, Elizabeth Squier, Mary Jane Gragg, Lillian Farrar, and Gladys Nichols, died previously. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Blakeslee Firth, whom he married Aug 3, 1946, in Jamestown, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Lynn Firth of Spartansburg; a sister, Mrs Dorothy Spade of Chicago, IL; a brother, Harry Firth of Spartansburg; one granddaughter...also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home of Spartansburg...and attend the funeral service there Tuesday at 11 am. Rev Carl L Smeltzer, pastor of the Valley View Mennonite Church of Spartansburg, will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg."
