Mary Ann Williams, 71, of Galveston passed away Monday, December 6, 2010, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, the Rev. Arnold Morton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with family will the held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mary Ann was born September 14, 1939, in Galveston to Peter Carola and Angelina Olvera Carola. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital for 15 years and then at Oppe Elementary School. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher, especially fond of the humming bird. Mary Ann was a member of Abundant Life Church in Galveston and enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. She loved her neighbors and was especially grateful for the help she received from Ismael Medina. She was deeply loved by her family and her many friends and will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Johnnie Carola and Albert Richie, she leaves to cherish her love and precious memory her husband of 52 years, Doyle E. Williams, Sr.; sons, Doyle E. Williams, Jr. and Dale Williams; daughters, Darlene Williams and Diane Williams Lewis; grandchildren, Mary Williams, Celenia Williams, Doyle E. Williams, III, Matthew Williams, Roxanne Williams, Chase Williams, Maurise Matamoras, Angelina Lewis, Anna Beth Lewis, Angelica Crockett and Serenity Crockett; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; a longtime close friend, Sue Powell; other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Doyle E. Williams, Jr., Dale Williams, Doyle E. Williams, III, Matthew D. Williams, Chase Williams and Maurise Matamoras.
