Son of Susan (Wallace) and Michael Wesley Derryberry of Henderson County TN. When he was 15 his father and older brother, William H Derryberry died while in prison hospitals during the Civil War. Both were in the 7th Tennessee Cavalry USA, fighting to preserve the union.
