Dick attended Southside High School and was a World War II veteran. He served his country in the Pacific arena as a medic in the 35th Battalion, 167th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Company I, and he achieved the rank of Technical Sgt. He is a former employee of Remington Rand, and retired as a dispatcher from Totem Taxi in Elmira, where he enjoyed working with people and was admired and respected by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He was known for his wit and unique sense of humor, and for his calm fortitude and character, and we will miss these traits the most. He was one of the rare individuals that graced our lives with his ability to see the best in people, even his favorite baseball team, the NY Mets! He instilled a higher set of ideals and values in all who crossed his path with his generosity, friendliness, honesty, and sense of character. We will all remember Richard, Dad, Granddad as a very special person in our lives who believed in people and family, and his memory will continue to guide us like a beacon of light.
