"Moseley was born in Union City, MI, on March 29, 1865, the youngest of 9 children. His father was William August Moseley and his mother was Sophia Bingham. His maternal grandfather was Hiram Bingham, a missionary to Hawaii and her brother Hiram Bingham, Jr, was captain of the Morning Star, supplying missionary stations in the pacific. His mother was the first white woman born on Oahu. he graduated from Union City High School at 15 and attended the University of Michigan. He received his bachelor's and master's after 4 years there. His honorary doctorate was awarded by Bowling Green State University 50 years later, in 1943

Moseley came to BGSU in 1914 when it was still the Bowling green state Normal College and taught astronomy, geology, chemistry, biology, hygiene, physics, English and Latin. he retired as professor Emeritus in 1936 and remained curator of the university Museum until his death June 6, 1948. His biggest scientific achievement was discovering the cause of milk sickness in cows."
