He was born Sept. 3, 1929, in Elkhart, and married LaVerne V. "Vicki" Johnson on Jan. 13, 1968, in Elkhart.
She survives with three daughters, Deborah, Elkhart, Mrs. Mark (Catherine) Wyatt, Bristol, and Mrs. Stephen (Cynthia) Sachs, Arlington, Texas;
two sons, Craig A. and Roger "Scotty", both at home;
two grandchildren; his mother, Elizabeth Babcock;
two sisters, Mary Babcock and Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) High, all of Elkhart; a brother, Charles, died in 1978.
Mr. Babcock retired in 1982 from the Rollie Williams Paint Spot after becoming ill.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy servicn in the Korean conflict.
He also was a member of the Goshen Moose Lodge and Grace Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Walley - Mills - Zimmerman Funeral Home.
The Rev. Robert E. Cassell, pastor, and the Rev. F. Laraine Sundin, assistant pastor, Grace Lutheran Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lay Diabetic Society.
