LTCOL Edwards USMC was the senior ranking passenger on-board US NAVY NATS flight aircraft# 131612. The aircraft was a R6D1 (DC 6) type. While, making an approach from the west to Hickham AFB, Hawaii at 0216 AM in the morning. The aircraft impacted "PaliKea" mountain just outside US Naval Magazine, Naval Ammunition Depot NAD (Oahu), Lualualei. No survivors were noted. His home of record was Kennard, Nebraska. suvived by his wife Mrs. Nathilla K. Albertson Edwards of Philidelphia. Three dependent children Grammer Grant Jr, Barbara and Robyn Jane Edwards. He was returning to his home there after serving a year in Japan. He was almost due for retirement having served 28 yrs in the Marines. Some of the duty assignments included:
