Dr. Slaughter was a radiologist on the staffs of Lawrence General and Melrose Wakefield hospitals until his retirement six years ago.
A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and of Harvard Medical School in 1931, he practiced in Ohio before serving in the Army Medical Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the American Medical Association, several medical and radiological societies, First Church in Salem and the Boston Yacht Club of Marblehead.
He leaves his wife, Margaret (Cook); and a son, William H. of Marblehead.
