Raymond A. Ward
Raymond A. Ward, age 89, of Canton, went home to be
with the Lord, Wednesday September 24, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center. He was born January 21, 1919, in New Martinsville, WV, to the late George and Lora (Windland) Ward. Raymond was an Army World War II Army Veteran and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a Canton area resident most of his life, retiring from Babcock & Wilcox in 1981 after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ where he served as an Elder; member of the Canton Lodge #60 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, North Industry Sportsman's Club and the NRA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Gary Lee Ward; three brothers, Wesley, Fred and Harold Ward; two sisters, Susie Ward and Morray Bowling. He is survived by his wife, Sara D. (Moffett), to whom he was married 68 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John Shaffer of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, James A. and Virginia Ward of Minerva, Steven and Barb Ward of Louisville; four grandchildren: Amy Beth Davis, Jennifer Lynn Shaffer, Christopher John Shaffer and Stefanie Rae Ward; four great grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, Megan and Jennifer Davis. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Lance Lindenberger officiating. Interment in Eden Cemetery.
