Weddings and Engagements

The beautiful wedding of Miss Ellen McShane and Mr. William Tracy Burns occurred Wednesday evening at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. E. C. McShane, 2204 California street. There was a large company of relatives and guests present, and the house was gay and fragrant with a profusion of pink and white peonies. As a stringed orchestra played the wedding march the bridal pair descended the stairway, which was festooned with greens. They were preceded by Mr. Louis Nash and Mr. Lee McShane, who with wide white ribbons formed an isle to the bower of palms and smilax arranged at one end of the library. Father Bronsgeest performed the ceremony, during which "Captive Memories" was softly played.

The bride wore an exquisite lace gown, a combination of thread and Venetian point. Her veil was of tulle, and she carried a large bouquet of brides' roses.

Miss Mary Lee McShane, as maid of honor, wore a lovely gown of white batiste and lace, and carried a large bunch of pink peonies. Mr. Dwight Swobe of Chicago acted as best man.

A reception attended by 300 guests followed the ceremony.

Among the guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Dodge and Miss O'Brien of Burlington, Ia., and Mrs. Sargent of Kansas City.

Owing to the flood Mr. and Mrs. Foye and Mr. Sargent of Kansas City were unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Burns will spend a month in New York and other eastern places; and after October 1 will be at home at 2204 California street.
