Found in The State 12 August 1913: Funeral services of Sherrod Leaphart Earle were held at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Carolyn Leaphart Earle, 1702 Laurel street, and interment was in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Earle died Sunday afternoon at the home of his mother after a long illness. A native of Columbia, he left here 34 years ago, first engaging in railroad work, later in politics in Florida, being clerk of the criminal court at Jacksonville for a number of years, and then entering the government service at Washington, where he was located at the time of his death. He was in Columbia on a visit when the end came. Mr. Earle is survived by his wife and seven children; two brothers, F. Sumter Earle and John J. Earle, and five sisters, Mrs. A. B. Knowlton, Mrs. J. H. Sams, Miss Alice Earle, Miss Cornelia Earle and Mrs. Robert Earle, who is now in Europe. He was 52 years of age.

He was born in S.C. as were both parents. He has been married for 23 years. He is a clerk for the census bureau.
