Mother loved to sing. She sang in a trio when she went to church in Glencoe. Then in another one when she attended Wilmer Aveune Baptist Church. They visited many churches and the trio were often asked to sing in their Christmas cantatas. In the early 1970's there was a morning show called the "Country Boy Eddie Show" and they appeared on that show numerous times.

She was the Salutatorian of Glencoe High School Class of 1954. On October 1, 1954 she married her husband and they were married 41 years before her passing. They had four children.

Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She always had a smile on her face.

At Christmas we would always get a board game to play. No matter what time we discovered Santa has visited, after opening presents, she would cook breakfast for all of us.

Each morning while Daddy worked, she would get up, cook his breakfast and pack his lunch for the day. She would walk with him to the back door and they would always give each other a kiss.

She had breast cancer in 1990 and survived it. On July 31, 1995 she was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to her liver and her brain. She was working for a pediatrician, Dr. Joseph Judge, at the time. She had allergies and he had treated her for allergies a few months before. When they wouldn't clear up, he told her to go to her regular doctor. After several doctors, and referred to an ENT because of dizziness, he said it was more than allergies or an inner ear infection and was admitted to the hospital that very day. Three days later, after many x-rays and tests, the doctors came back with the diagnosis. I was in the room when he was there. Her first statement was, "I'm glad it isn't one of my children." The doctor said, "Glenda, I am so sorry. I will never understand why this happens to the one of the best." When Doctor Judge found out, he was extremely upset at himself for not seeing the spot on her lung. He sent his x-rays to the Mayo Clinic for review. They assured him the spot was not in any of his x-rays. October 31, 1995 at about 2:30 am, Mother passed away quietly at home. The night of visitation, the funeral home could not believe the number of people that Mother had touched in her life. They said it was though some famous person had died. She was buried on November 4, 1995 at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Dr. Judge closed his office that day so the employees could be present at the funeral.

Everyone around her loved her. She just generated love no matter who she was around.
