David M. Butterfield (1938-2012) Obituary

WEST CUMMINGTON - David M. Butterfield, 74, of Brown Avenue, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.

Born June 21, 1938, in Northampton, David was the son of the late Milo G. and Hazel (Bernier) Butterfield. He attended local schools, graduating from Smith Vocational High School.

David was retired from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he worked in the Housing Department as a carpenter and in maintenance.

David is survived by his sister, Susan Butterfield of Buffalo, N.Y.; niece, Dawn and grand niece, Grace Pesola of Buffalo, N.Y.; niece, Karen (David) Skribiski of Sunderland; Karen's children, Jamie Vielmetti and Ryan Vielmetti; and Jamie's son, Jarrod.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 30 at 2 p.m. at Pease and Gay Funeral Home, 425 Prospect Street, Northampton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Spring Grove Cemetery.
