Mr. Atkinson, who was 86, was dead on arrival, Tuesday, May 21, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. He was a retired farmer. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Juanita Lewis Atkinson of Wildersville; three daughters, Helen Murphy of Wildersville, Ann Sherrile of Westport and Marilyn Fields of Huntingdon; four sons, Rex Atkinson, Danny Atkinson, both of Wildersville, Thomas Atkinson of Lexington and Ralph Atkinson of Yuma, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Son of Henry Fletcher Atkinson and Corina Elizabeth Hampton.
