Geraldine N. Ebler, a 78-year-old Gurnee resident, formerly of Zion and Waukegan, passed away at home Thursday evening, January 7, 2010. She was born in Jefferson City, MO on September 15, 1931 to the now late Harry and Lillian Casteel. A woman of strong faith, Geraldine volunteered her time for Upward at Faith Church, the Awana Program, Pioneer Girls, and others. She loved to travel, and wintered in Kissimmee, FL. Beloved wife of nearly 52 years to Fredrick W. Ebler, Jr.; loving mother of James K. VanderVere, Larry (Sharon) VanderVere, Shelley (Donald Spriggs) Kirby, Mark F. (Lillian) Ebler, Penny (Robert) Traynoff, and Fredrick W. (Denise) Ebler, Jr., cherished grandmother of 18 and great-grandmother of 17; dear sister of Rosemary (Charles) Schelinski and Vern (Martha) Casteel. Geraldine's brothers Harold and Harry Casteel as well as her sister Joan Daisy preceded her in death.
