Fred "Fritz" Ebler, age 90, of Gurnee, IL, formerly of Waukegan and North Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at his home. Fritz is preceded in death by his wife Geraldine "Gerry" Ebler (2010). Fritz and Gerry were married in Waukegan and enjoyed 52 years of matrimony.

Fritz was born in Waukegan to Frederick W. and Bernice (née Campbell) Ebler Sr. in 1932. He graduated from Waukegan High School and served in the U.S. Army. Fritz worked as a union carpenter on commercial construction sites. He was a community member of Lakeland Church in Gurnee, IL. He enjoyed traveling across the United States and camping. Fritz especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his 6 children James VanderVere, Larry (Sharon) VanderVere, Shelley Kirby, Mark (Lillian) Ebler, Penny (Robert) Traynoff, and Fred (Denise) Ebler; 18 grandchildren, Jim, Alisha, Lil Sharon, Paul, Timothy, Phil, Dan, David, and Matt VanderVere, Ronny, Becky, Susie, Bruce, and Jeff Kirby, Lacey and Joseph Ebler, Samuel Traynoff, and Cheyenne Kirkland Ebler; 33 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Nancy Celesnik; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Ebler.

In addition to his wife Gerry and his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Albert Ebler; sisters, Judy Ebler Fredsbo and Marilyn Ebler; and brother-in-law, Frank Celesnik.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers or A Safe Place.

Visitation and Funeral Service will both be on Saturday, June 11 at Lakeland Church, 440 N. Hunt Club Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. Visitation begins at 9:00 am. Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am. Interment follows at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL.
