My GGGrandfather,James Dallas Pearce, 74, was a retired carpenter. He died suddenly at the home of his son, Sgt. Harry O. Pearce in Westport. He had been a resident of Westport for about six months after moving from McMinnville, Oregon to live with his son, Sgt. Pearce, who was in charge of the military unit at Westport. He previously lived in Fayette County, Indiana till he moved out west near his son.

James Dallas was born to James W. and Catherine Brown Pearce in Schuyler County, New York in 1847. He moved to Fayette County, Indiana with his family at a young age. It was there he met and married Virginia Bryant Pearce. She proceeded him in death in 1913 and is buried in Columbia Cemetery, Fayette Co., Indiana.

He was survived by several children and siblings. Including his son Sgt. Harry O. Pearce of Westport and a son Grover Allen Pearce who was in the Phillipines. His daughter Mary Effie Pearce Ennis proceeded him in death in 1920 in Fayette County, Indiana.
