McDONOUGH – Agnes Granger, 92, a life long resident of McDonough, passed away Oct. 16, 2008 in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Norwich.

The daughter of Henry Elijah and Ida Sperry Nightengale, Agnes was born in September of 1916 in McDonough. She spent most of her time as a youth in McDonough, but with her father being a logger, she spent time in logging camps in Pitcher and Ohio, N.Y. On March 17, 1942, in Oxford, she married E. Jerome Granger, who passed away Dec. 16, 1971.

Agnes worked on the family farm and at the Berglass Factory during World War II. She then went to work as a nurse's aide for the Preston Manor Home, Chenango Valley Home and Valley View Manor, retiring in 1976.

Besides her husband, E. Jerome, she was predeceased by her son, E. Jerome (Toad) Granger in 1968; a granddaughter, Debbie Kraft Schoonmaker; a grandson, Daniel Boone Graeff; her brothers, Madison Sayles, Homer Cobb, Leon (Skibe) Graves and her sisters, May Nightengale, Ruby McGowan, Estella Manwarren and Marie Prentice.
