Bio

Since it has been 10 years now since I joined Find A Grave, I thought I would update my profile. Tomorrow, 12/24/2011, I will be 54 and 1/2 years old. (I like the fact that I am 1/2 years older on Christmas Eve [smile]). I am attending school to be a veterinarian technician; I have wanted to work with animals all of my life but took a detour to work in Criminal Justice and Substance Abuse. I still can't figure out why. I have a new puppy after mouring the death of my 10 year old Rottie 3 years ago. It was time to bring a new puppy into my life, not to replace Athena (that was her name)but to bring me more happiness, and she has. I also have her mother who belongs to my nephew and her aunt, who also belongs to my nephew. During the months of July, August, September, October and November we had 23 dogs and puppies filling our home. My pup is the last one here and finally, our home is back to normal although I do miss the little boogers. I gained a great deal of vital educational experience about canines (dogs) which I take into vet tech school.

During these 10 years, we lost our mom and some close friends and relatives, and other major life changes involving severe illnesses, some requiring surgeries and not so proudly, incarcerations of family members who made stupid mistakes for which they have repaid society and family; all of the things that are possible for a family to go through. So, I begin my second decade with Find A Grave on the 40th anniversary of our father's death. I am pleased to be a member of this very interesting memorialization/remembrance site and I wish everyone a very happy 2012! Debra Holderness

MY FIRST 10 YEARS WITH FIND A GRAVE

I am a 44 year old female who resides in Colorado. I am currently unemployed due to a back disability a few years ago. I hope to return to the work force very soon. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. For 16 years, I worked in the field of Law Enforcement as a Probation and Parole Officer and as a state certified drug and alcohol counselor. When I return to work full time, I have decided to change careers; possibly entering the administrative field of medicine. I will soon apply to graduate school to begin working on a Masters degree in Public Health or administration.
I am single, never being married and I have no children, at least not ones with two legs. I have four very large dogs, 3 cats and an African Dwarf frog. My 85 year old mother and I reside in the home of my 63 year old sister. The three of us have a good relationship considering our age differences.
I wanted to memorialize my father as it approaches the 30th anniversary of his death on the 23rd of December. I am pleased to have located this website on which to pay public tribute to him. Now that we have been in Colorado for the past 30 years, his grave has gone unvisited and in this way, we have some way to formally remember him on a regular basis. Thank-you very much and I hope others will find this website as beneficial as I have.

Sincerely,

Debra Holderness
