Bio

When I was told about this website by a friend, I just knew I had to enter my relatives here and friends so I could remember them as they were in life. I am an Old West amateur History buff who enjoys reading about the struggles of the pioneers who helped shape this great nation of ours, from the Gold Rush of California to the Comstock Lode of Virginia Cioty, Nevada. The influence of the old west had a great impact on San Francisco and its history I find very fascinating to research on my free time. I enjoy reading true stories about the pioneers from over a century ago, from the Donner Party to the Barbary Coast of San Francisco. The outlawry of those times were not as romantic as some people may think, for it was a rough era to really live in..........From Mark Twain's experience in Virginia City, where he actually first started using the pseuodonym Mark Twain while a reporter for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise Newspaper to his living in San Francisco in the early 1860's working at various newspapers. This is where he brought his first success as a writer when he penned "The jumping Frogs of Calaveras County" along with his own experience in the book "Roughing It" where he wrote about his life in California and Nevada. If anyone is interested in these books, they are still available and they depict an overall picture of how life really was back in the Old Western Days of California and Nevada. There are some very funny parts in the books too, for he had the gift of having a great sense of humor. My love for the old west will always be a major part of my life and I hope to do some journaling of my own on this in the future for others to enjoy. I no longer live in the bay area so I won't be able to photograph any more pictures of graves at any cemetaries in the bay area.
