I grew up near Kittanning in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania and have always been interested in my family history. While other kids played at family reunions, I would be listening to my relatives tell stories about the family and questioned them about relatives long passed. My mother and I would go to place flowers on relatives' graves every year for Memorial Day. My mother was great for telling my father to stop if she saw any old cemetery so we could look at the headstones. My father was a patient man. My interest has never waned and I married a somewhat patient man. He does go with me to my relatives' old cemeteries, no matter what desolate road we must travel, and this has sparked an interest in finding his relatives' graves. Our ancestors are never gone if we remember.
