BS degree in Environmental Science from Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan with advanced studies in Governmental Administration and Finance at Michigan State University.
Vietnam vereran, former Deputy Sheriff with the Kent County Sheriff's Department, professional SCUBA diver, photographer, instrument rated pilot.
Elected Township Treasurer, Plainfield Charter Township, Belmont, Michigan 1977-1992.
John and his wife Sherry moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1992 where they lived until 2003.
They now reside in Silver Springs Shores, Florida.
