Dann Hayes lives in Malcom, Iowa, and is married to Melissa Ann (Monson) Hayes.

We have two children--Amy Leah and Andrew Michael.

I am a veteran of the United States Army Security Agency (1975-1978) and am a very active member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Currently, I am the managing editor of the Poweshiek County CR newspaper -- a weekly located in Grinnell, Iowa, which covers the Poweshiek County area.

I have helped develop Camp Grinnell, a Civil War living history encampment for 8th grade students. The goal is to give students a hands on experience which helps them want to learn.
