As a child, I heard many interesting stories about my ancestors, including the one about my great grandfather being the father of 26 children. I often wondered how many of the stories were true. About 20 years ago, I started doing family research and found the names of 23 of my great grandfathers children. Not sure if the other three died between census years or if the count was wrong.
In 2000 I started a family web site, since then I have adopted several counties and put online web sites for them. I enjoy helping others with their research, but due to the economy, I have had to cut back on my trips to the library, courthouse and cemeteries.
