John and Becky divorced in 1995. Both have since then re-wed; John to Carla of Pittsburg, Kansas and Becky to Joseph Sandbothe of Neodesha, Kansas. Becky and Joe divorced in 2009.

Aric has one brother, Brandon John Ross; one sister, Amanda Lynn (Ross) Arck; and a maternal half-sister, Lori Lynnette (McClure) Hixon.

Step-siblings are Steven and April Sandbothe and Misty.

In 1992, Buck Albert Ross was legally changed to Aric Chandler Ross. Both parents agreed to the name change and played a part in choosing the replacement names.

Paternal Grandparents are Samuel John Ross and Grace Juanita (Lair) Ross of Cherokee, Kansas. Sam passed away on October 4, 1996 and Grace died on January 30, 1997. Both are buried at the Hosey Hill Cemetary in Cherokee county, KS.

Maternal Grandparents are Merle Morris McClure and Betty Louise (Nichols) McClure of Pittsburg, Kansas. Betty passed away on June 23, 2004 and Merle died on November 6, 2010. Both are buried at the Mount Olive Cemetary in Pittsburg, Kansas.

On January 18, 1997, Aric entered a domestic partnership with Christopher Shane Bunn, son of Bruce Allen Bunn and Sheryl Lynn (House) Bunn of Nixa, Missouri (formerly from Nevada, Missouri). The couple currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri with their adopted pet Shih-Tzu, Pirate.

Ross holds an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) degree in Respiratory Therapy, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology and is the honorary recipient of a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.) degree. Rev. Dr. Ross has been legally ordained as a minister by the Universal Life Church and Monestary in Modesto, California since 2001.

Ross is a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and a Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (CRT-NPS), holding credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
