Bio

Born in 1949 in Savannah GA, I lived at 614 Lamont St., Johnson City TN from age 1 to 22 and attended Central Baptist, Clark St. Baptist, & Temple Baptist Churches.

In Johnson City I attended & graduated from Henry Johnson Elementary School, South Junior High, and Science Hill High School & East Tenn. State Univ. 1972 with a BS in Geology

We moved to mom's Broom ancestral land in Fairfield County SC in March 1972, where I still live & attend Crooked Run Baptist Church.

In Columbia SC I attended & graduated from the Univ. of South Carolina 1991 with an MS in Computer Science.

I started gathering descendant data at 10 years old. I found most of my ancestors in the census prior to 1972. I charted the descendants of various ancestors before there were genealogy programs. I worked with various ancestors' reunions. I started writing web pages in December 1995 & started looking into the DNA of my ancestors in Dec. 2002. I've been a member of the Watauga [TN] Genealogical Society, SC Gen. Soc.: Columbia & Fairfield Co. Chapters, Clans MacCallum/Malcolm & Marjoribanks, & the Sons of the Am. Rev. I'm a life member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans: International, SC, & NC, the Ulster Hist. Foundation, & the Huxford Gen. Soc. (of south GA).

I am a great grandson of Dr. Thomas Furman BROOM whose grave is my only memorial that I maintain at FindAGrave.
