Bio

I have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years. The information that I provide has been known to me for some time, but I felt that I would share cemetery information with those that may be interested. My father is Ben Barlow Jr. of Lebanon and my mother was Mary Catherine Dowling Barlow from Springfield. My Grandmother was Mary Effie MATTINGLY Dowling. As a result, I am related to nearly the entire town of Springfield. I grew up in Frankfort but my Springfield, Kentucky connection runs deep. We are related to many of the common names that run through the area. Besides Mattingly & Dowling, we are related to Carrico's, Smith's, Nalley's, Mudd's, Spalding's, Hamilton's and many others. I am more than happy to share my information with those interested. In addition, I am also in possession of the ORIGINAL photo collection of my Great Grandmother Annie Smith Mattingly who was married to John Bartholomew (Barton) Mattingly. They both passed away in 1939. The photos again are originals and in nearly mint condition, having been seen few times by human eyes in the last 100+ years. (long story) I am happy to share copies to others and will be posting some on this site as time permits.
I am the father of two, grandfather of six, and enjoy traveling around the country. (However, I always seem to find my way to old historic cemeteries to feed my addictions of genealogy, history, and photography!) I am a member of the Smithsonian Institution, the Kentucky Historical Society, The National Trust for Historic Preservation and the International Society of Genetic Genealogy and am dedicated to preserving our historic cemeteries in any way I can.
