Bio

I'm a retired college professor and administrator who holds a Ph.D. in theology (with a major in historical theology) from Toronto School of Theology/St. Michael's College, and an M.A. and B.A. in English from Tulane and Loyola Universities in New Orleans. I speak and can read French, German, and Latin, and can read Greek. I mention these credentials, including my major in historical theology in my Ph.D. work, to note that I have educational background on which I draw as I do family history work — and that I can and will gladly help others who need, for instance, to have texts in several other languages translated.

I have been doing genealogical research since the latter half of the 1970s, and have sat on the board of the Arkansas Genealogical Society. My articles about my biracial Winn family of Union County, Arkansas, published in the AGS journal Arkansas Family Historian, won the AGS prize for best family history articles published in the year in which they were published, as well as the Arkansas Historical Society's prize for best family and local history article published that year. My book on my uncle several generations back, Dr. Wilson Bachelor of Franklin County, Arkansas, which is entitled Fiat Flux, won the Booker-Worthen award.
