I'm an Iowa girl born and raised with a few years spent elsewhere. Lucky for my daughter . . . I've brought her back to where my heart belongs. Southeast Iowa isn't much to many people but for generations my family has called it home. I'm the family digger for both my Hackert/Carpenter side and Heaston (Davidson - bio last name)/Dimmitt side. I love visiting cemeteries and can feel the history they are trying to tell us. For me, living in the middle of nowhere gives chance to finding random old cemeteries, which are my favorite. I feel I have ancestors buried all over Keokuk, Wapello, Mahaska, Marion and Jasper counties. I love playing detective and solving the family mysteries. I'm on one now so I better get back to it. : )
