Bio

I was born in San Francisco, California, USA, and raised in nearby San Rafael. I graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1999 with a degree in anthropology and archaeology. I moved to Los Angeles, California, where I work as a Hollywood location scout, production supervisor, and producer on franchises like Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ghostbusters, and Fast & Furious. I am married to an opera singer & academic coach, and we have fraternal twin boys.

I've been a genealogist since 1992. Some prominent surnames include: Trimble, Suggs, Castelhun, Donham, Wildberger, Case, McDonald, Collins, Heim, Stewart, Schick, Roetter, Simmons, Allen, Clark, Rector, and Lorang. My wife's family includes Ehrlich, Simpson, Hall, Reissig, Riffel, Sutherland, and Glassford. I've written or edited several books, and organized various family reunions.

I've been using Findagrave since sometime before 2010, but, in January 2022, I started actively trying to unite all my relatives by adding missing memorials, requesting transfers of existing ones, and adding pictures and information to all of them. I am happy to transfer memorials to any family members who are more closely related than I am, but, in the meantime, I will continue to maintain everybody. When possible, I will do photo requests at cemeteries in and near the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.

Finally, any pictures that I've uploaded to this website are absolutely available for anybody to download and use elsewhere. Restoring, preserving, duplicating, and sharing is what genealogy is all about, isn't it? My mind is always boggled by people who get upset by this. In fact, most of the pictures that I've uploaded here have been cropped and reduced in size — you are always welcome to email me to obtain the highest-resolution originals.
