Bio

I am a genealogist living on the "North Shore" of Massachusetts. My interests include the Barris, Collins, Ferris, Hillier, Johnson, Moffatt and Reilly, families, plus many more (check my virtual cemeteries). I have written an article on my Collins ancestors in the NEHGS Register (Winter 2020). You can also visit my website (listed above). You will see that I take source information VERY seriously. My mantra is "The only difference between genealogy and a fairy tale is citation of sources."

My goal is to link together as many of my family lines as possible, as well as to make any given memorial as complete as possible. Some are "my" memorials, some are managed by others. I value them all equally.

I will gladly transfer to you any memorial that is not my family.

If I send you a "suggested edit", you can be sure I have good sources to back it up. By definition, "good" sources include: vital records, the census, obituaries, probate papers; immigration, naturalization, land, and military records; reputable publications, etc., but EXCLUDES family trees on Ancestry.com (or elsewhere), GEDCOM files, as well as unsourced annotations on FAG memorials. If you want, I will happily send you my source(s), I'm not trying to hide them. There just isn't a place in the "suggestion" form to include them. If you prefer to transfer a memorial to me, instead of processing my suggestions, I will gladly accept it, but I do not solicit it.

By the same token, if you send a suggested edit to me, I expect you to have good sources as well. If I can find something to back you up, I will approve your suggestion. If not, I will send you a message requesting some sort of source information. I very much welcome and strongly encourage your suggestions. Many provide information I could get in no other way. I'm not nasty or uncooperative, I just don't want to add any incorrect information to the bit that's already out there.
