Bio

I've worked on photographing all the stones in various cemeteries near where I live and where I spend the summer. I also love to stop and take pictures when I travel, which usually doesn't give me time to inventory the whole cemetery, though I get back to finish up some that are on routes I travel regularly. I like to imagine the lives that went with the names on the stones. Even the simplest headstones tell interesting stories.

I try to take the best pictures I can and then crop and edit them to show the engravings best. If I think my picture adds any detail, I will add it even if other pictures exist, especially if any part of the engraving is obscured in existing photos. I hope other contributors will later add better pictures than some of mine as well. Some days the lighting is good and some days it isn't.

Anyone who wants to use pictures I have taken for personal use is granted permission, including use on Ancestry or similar sites. I will transfer memorials to anyone who isn't my own relative on request--please give me the name and FAG# if you wish me to transfer. If you do it through the edit page, it will send those automatically. But please, if you sign up to be a volunteer, do some volunteer work: get out there and enter some info for other people--don't just collect your own family members and expect others to do all the work. There is undoubtedly a cemetery near you that needs some work, and it's very gratifying the first time you realize you just documented something new (and the second, and the thousandth...it continues to reward.)

The cemeteries I have fully photographed are as follows: OKLAHOMA--Beaver County: Gray Cemetery (June 7, 2022); OKLAHOMA--Blaine County: Cherryvale Cemetery (June through September 2019); OKLAHOMA--Delaware County: Allen Cemetery (November 2021); OKLAHOMA--Garvin County: Mount Olivet Cemetery (October 2016--April 2019); Whitebead Cemetery (early 2019 through February 2020); OKLAHOMA--Kingfisher County: Lacey Cemetery (June 7, 2022); OKLAHOMA--Logan County: Mount Hope Cemetery (November 2021); OKLAHOMA--Oklahoma County: Valley Cemetery (August 31, 2019), New Hope Church Cemetery (August 31, 2019); OKLAHOMA--Payne county: Mount Vernon (Nov 2015-Dec 2017), Paradise (May 2019), Elm Grove (Nov 2017), Oak Grove (Jan 2018), Sunset Memorial Gardens (Nov 2017-July 2018), Clarkson (August through September 2019); OKLAHOMA--Pittsburg County: Red Oak Cemetery (December 2020);
MISSOURI--Newton County: Boon Cemetery (October 2018), MISSOURI--Pulaski County: Burchard Cemetery (February 2018), MISSOURI--Laclede County: Stephens Cemetery (March 2021); Barnett Cemetery (February 2022);
NEW MEXICO--Rio Arriba County: Campo Santo of Ghost Ranch (June 2018);
ARKANSAS--Logan County: Antioch Cemetery (November 2021). I put the dates in so it can be clear that any markers placed before the initial date should be included, any markers after the final date definitely not included.
