I'm retired and have taken up genealogy to try to put together the bits and pieces of family stories I heard growing up. Born in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, my family moved a lot and settled in 1950s Laramie, Wyo. With little opportunity to visit the far away northeast, I grew up knowing very little of my mother's family. So my research started with the Dows, Browns, Kittredges, Youngs and Parkers of the Cape Elizabeth/South Portland area. Then the Bebermeyers, Ullmers, Haughawouts, and Porters of Missouri (father's side). I don't contribute unless I am pretty darn sure of the facts, just guessing at history doesn't really help anyone.
