I was born in Shelbyville, TN and grew up on the family farm at New Hermon. I am retired after 30 years as a corporate legal assistant in Murfreesboro, where my husband and I have lived the past 50 years. I am now spending time at my home place in New Hermon, Bedford County, TN, and my passion is genealogy and the preservation of our heritage. My latest project is raising awareness of the need to support the upkeep of the old cemeteries where our ancestors are buried, in general, and especially the New Hermon Cemetery, new Mt Hermon Cemetery and Houston-Whitworth Cemetery, all located in Bedford County, TN. Since there are now only a few local descendants left to support these old cemeteries and the cemetery plots have always been free to residents of the communities, we are no longer receiving the necessary funds to keep them mowed and maintained in a manner that our ancestors deserve. Anyone who might wish to make a one-time or an annual donation - or even to include the cemeteries in your Will as I have done - can do so by mailing a check made out to the respective cemetery, c/o Linda Allen Coop, 727 Possum Trot Rd., Shelbyville, TN 37160 and I will see that it is taken care of. Any help is greatly appreciated as mowing costs increase and supporters pass away each year. Please feel free to share this with any one who may be interested and happy hunting to all my genealogy friends out there. Linda Allen Coop
