Bio

I am a teacher and genealogist born and raised in Logan County, West Virginia. I have been visiting cemeteries since I was a child in the 1960s with my parents. I became interested in doing my family history in the 1970s and I began by talking with my parents and grandparents. They told me many stories about my ancestors. I went to cemeteries to get their birth and death dates and many of the old timers had no grave stones. I searched census records and courthouse records long before the Internet. My father's side of the family came from Mingo and Logan County, WV. They are the Baisden, Dingess, Fowler, Gillespie, and many more. My mother's side of the family came from Pike County, Kentucky. They are Johnson, Mullins, Sprague, Oney, Adkins, just to name a few. On both sides of my family ancestry go back to Revolutionary War soldiers. My ancestors come mainly from Scotland, Ireland, England and Germany.
