I have been researching Compton genealogy for over 20 years. Paper trail ends at Larkin Compton (b. 1796, NC), with strong clues James (Rev War Soldier) was his father.
DNA tests show a connection to to the Aquilla Compton family of New England, but a paper trail cannot be established.
