I became interested in family history listening to the colorful stories told to me by great grandparents, grandparents and my parents about ancestors I would never meet. These stories made my ancestors come alive with personalities and struggles I can relate to in my own life. Learning the dates and locations of births and deaths and names of children and grandchildren and other facts, places my family in the timeline of human history and gives me more perspective about my place in the bigger narrative. I'm especially passionate about photographs since they give that tiny visual glimpse of the person that lived.
